Annual Membership Meeting - 2008
|
Promoting: "Downtown Living"
|
Thanks to all who attended the Annual Meeting and a BIG
thanks to Dan and Kris Brenner for opening their home!
Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10:45 a.m. Dan and Kris Brenner's Home , 1406 4th Street, Alexandria
This house was built in 1908 by a former wealthy timber man, Swords Lee, who had
direct connections to our state's most famous governor. During World War II, this building was used as a boarding
house and was known as "Ms. McIntire's Boarding House." Many people in Central Louisiana still
affectionately remember dropping off or picking up friends and family members at this location. The Brenner family
is a fine example of what downtown living is all about.
Congratulations to the 2008 Preservationists
of the Year: 1) Jam and Maureen Downs (Pegram Plantation) 2) Mike and Jenny Jenkins (Loyd Hall) 3) Ken and
Charlotte Wasmer (2036 Jackson Street)
